My first thought was not logical, but
my first thought was he needed money to buy his mother a Christmas present.
I quickly realized that was quite naive on my part, and he probably was involved in drugs like most of them are.

Born and Raised: It's Just Not What it Was
African American people back in the 40s and 50s migrated here from the South and other places. They worked at Boeing and the shipyards. This was the only area they could buy homes in. They were redlined in other neighborhoods.

Our next door neighbors called the cops on us. They always call the cops on us. They don't like us. But they like to be really loud in front of our house everyday. So we get them back. We call the cops on them.
